As of this past weekend, Raymond Leo Burke, the U.S.’s highest-ranking cardinal, was officially removed from the Vatican’s Supreme Court. He was demoted to chaplain of the Knights of Malta, where he will reportedly have less responsibility. The anti-gay cardinal had continued to challenge the jurisdiction of Pope Francis and the church’s new receptive stance on homosexuality. Burke, one of the Pope’s biggest opponents, has said;
“The pope is not free to change the church’s teachings with regard to the immorality of homosexual acts or the insolubility of marriage or any other doctrine of the faith.”
Raymond Burke once protested pro-choice advocate, Sheryl Crow, for performing at a benefit concert, saying;
“A Catholic institution featuring a performer who promotes moral evil gives the impression that the church is somehow inconsistent in its teaching.”
Say what you will about these “inconsistencies”, but for being so anti-gay, he sure has some FAB outfits. I’m just saying…
