I was watching television in my studio apartment in uptown Dallas when the news broke and was glued to the television for the rest of the day mourning Anna Nicole. I loved her so much! Critics everywhere have been swooning over The Witch since it scared the crap out of everyone at Sundance last year. But if that isn’t enough of an endorsement for you, The Satanic Temple has just given the movie an official sanction, declaring it as a “transformative Satanic experience.”

In an official statement made by The Satanic Temple, the group says it “is confident [the film] will signal the call-to-arms for a Satanic uprising against the tyrannical vestiges of bigoted superstitions, and will harken a new era of liberation and unfettered inquiry.”
Added The Satanic Temple’s National Spokesperson Jex Blackmore, “We are empowered by the narrative of ‘The Witch’: a story of pathological pride, old-world religious paradigms, and an outsider who grabs persecution by the horns.” She goes on to praise the film’s plot, which “departs from the victim” narrative of witchcraft and stands as a “declaration of feminine independence.”
To celebrate, the Templet will be launching premiere screenings of The Witch beginning in New York City on February 10 that will include interactive performances and ritualized pronouncements of a “new Satanic era.” Screenings will follow in Los Angeles (February 12), Austin (February 16) and Detroit (to be determined).

After what was, by all accounts, a TRIUMPH for Lady Gaga Sunday afternoon – her pitch-perfect rendition of “The National Anthem” SLAYED – The New York Times oddly decided it was the PERFECT TIME to do a hatchet job on her. In an article entitled “Beyoncé, the Past Is Calling, and It’s Lady Gaga,” Times writer Wesley Morris said, in effect, that while Beyoncé and Gagaloo may have been pop equals six years ago when they made “Telephone,” that was a long time ago. The times have changed. Now
Beyoncé now has an astronomical lock on the world’s attention. We orbit her. All she did on Saturday was release a song and a video — “Formation” — and the planet seemed to stop.
True enough. Beyoncé WAS peerless Sunday afternoon, as Morris claimed. She was dressed like Michael Jackson. She moved like Tina Turner. She was as political as Nina Simone. “You were encouraged to think that her equals aren’t with her in the present. They’re communing with her from the past.”
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga seems content to be past.
Wait, what? That seems uncalled for. But there’s more. He’s just getting started on his epic takedown. Here’s where things get REALLY nasty.
Gaga’s work now is like a long-term art project that’s put 50 years on her persona, and at 29, she’s five years younger than Beyoncé. She’s been cooing with Tony Bennett on their “Cheek to Cheek” tour; she’s wearing stuff that you’d find on Fanny Brice. Her Gucci pantsuit could have been from the Céline Dion collection or from Liza Minelli’s closet. So, too, could the strength of her singing and chest thwaps.
She’s given herself a coating of the geriatric, of respectability, of Vegas.
At last year’s Academy Awards, Gaga near-perfectly performed a medley from “The Sound of Music,” and her earnestness was touching even as you had no idea why this was happening — to us, to her. She cleans up awkwardly. If this is “art-pop,” as Gaga’s last album was called — trying out nostalgia for eras in which she never lived, tearfully accepting a Golden Globe for her work on “American Horror Story: Hotel,” playing a version of the winking grotesque creature she started as — it seems designed to keep her out of the mainstream fray: away from Adele and Rihanna and her former collaborator Beyoncé. Lady Gaga has aged herself past what’s trending. She’s willfully become the living embodiment of what’s trended.
Ouch. “Geriatric?” “Vegas”? “Celine Dion pantsuits”? “A winking grotesque creature”? “The living embodiment of what’s trended”?

I’m sure we can all agree that Beyoncé pretty much gave us all the weekend we all really needed. It all started when she dropped her seriously game-changing music video “Formation” (featuring the Queen Diva and star of Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce, Big Freedia) and its coinciding apparel collection online. Then, on Sunday, Queen Bey used perhaps the biggest stage in the world (the Super Bowl halftime show) as her chosen medium to promote/announce her upcoming Formation World Tour.
Last night, however, Beyoncé’s stylist Ty Hunter stopped by Bravo‘s Watch What Happens Live and answered Andy Cohen‘s question about what he thinks of Beyoncé’s upcoming album(!!!)…

Hollywood legend and goddamn national treasure Zsa Zsa Gabor was rushed to the ER Monday … 2 days after her 99th birthday, bless her heart. Zsa Zsa, of course, has had numerous health complications over the last decade, and hasn’t been seen in public in YEARS.
Yesterday, her ninth husband Frederic von Anhalt said that Gabor was having difficulty breathing.
From TMZ:
Zsa Zsa’s doctor came to her home and removed mucus from her throat, but it didn’t cure the problem. Zsa Zsa was admitted to an L.A. hospital Monday morning.
Docs determined she has a feeding tube-related lung infection.We’re told Zsa Zsa’s scheduled to undergo surgery to have her breathing tube removed.
Gabor – whose beauty and wit made her a talk-show mainstay in the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s – has been in declining health for a while now.
In 2010, she fractured her hip and underwent a successful hip replacement.
In August 2010, Gabor was admitted to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in serious condition and received last rites from a Catholic priest.
In 2011, her right leg was amputated above the knee to save her life from an infection. She was hospitalized again in 2011 for numerous emergencies.
Still, she keeps trucking’ on, though God only knows if she’s even aware of this latest setback.
For those of us of a certain age, it’s hard to conceive of a world without Zsa Zsa in it.
Let’s all takes a moment and celebrate the glamorous life of the Hungarian superstar in her heyday.

A new documentary Strike a Pose – about the seven voguers from Madonna‘s fabled Blonde Ambition tour –premieres this month at the Berlin International Film Festival.
From directors Ester Gould and Reijer Zwaan:
The “Truth or Dare” rockumentary followed Madonna on the road, behind the scenes with her “Blonde Ambition” family of backup singers and dancers, and is still considered groundbreaking for it’s candid, matter-of-fact depiction of the private lives of her seven dancers.
As a self-proclaimed “mother” to her six gay dancers plus straight Oliver, Madonna used the film to make a stand on gay rights and freedom of expression. The dancers became paragons of pride, inspiring people all over the world to dare to be who you are. Twenty-five years later, the dancers share their own stories about life during and after the tour. What does it really take to express yourself?
I talked to Luis Xtravaganza (you know, the cute one) about the making of the documentary as well as his overall feelings about the tour, the ensuing fan frenzy, and how he feels about Madonna 25 years later.
JSJ: That period of your life must have been such a mad whirl. What memories stand out? What do you treasure most from that time?
LX:The thing that I treasured most from that whole B.A. experience was the chance to “get out” and see the world, experience different people/cultures, all while doing what I loved doing… which was dancing. The result far exceeded my expectations and I’m still grateful that she gave a kid from the projects a chance to get out and spread his wings.
I imagine that you are asked about it ALL THE TIME (I know a thing or two about that) – does it ever get annoying?
My experience overall was positive both then (1990) AND now (2016).
Tell me a little bit about the filmmakers. How did you meet?
How I came to know the filmmakers is kind of funny and ironic! My partner David informed me that Kevin Stea was trying to get a hold of me. When I asked what for, he said it had something to do with a documentary. I asked him if it was the people from World of Wonder and he said that he didn’t think so. So I disregarded the request!!! Hand to God truth! LOL!!! After conversing with Kevin, he urged me to speak to them and so I relented.
What did you take away from the experience?
What I took away from the experience was a sense of closure. It was a full circle moment for me.
What’s your life like now? Do you still spend time with the houses? Are you a mentor to the children?
My life now is more “settled” than before…LOL!! I live in Los Angeles now so I don’t have as much contact with my house as I used to, but I carry the “X” proudly everyday!
We have a west coast division of our house and I try to see them when I can. Yes, I mentor some of the guys out here.
That whole Vogue period was so revolutionary – you DO recognize your part in the cultural shift towards LGBT acceptance, right? I know some people have spoken out about Madonna co-opting ballroom culture etc – I wonder if you can address that? Or is that rude of me to ask?
I’m grateful and humbled to have been part of something that was/is considered revolutionary… especially for our LGBT community.
In regards to co-opting…I strongly believe that things happen the way they’re supposed to. I don’t believe there was some diabolical scheme behind what is said about that whole situation. I do believe that people/artists draw upon what influences them… and I’d like to believe that we were influential to her at that time.
In the end…I think, it was a wonderful “expression” of a sub-culture that was brought to the mainstream from a person that was an advocator and a supporter of that community and the LGBT community as a whole.
Do you ever see/hear from Oliver? Will he be in Berlin?
To be honest, I haven’t seen Oliver in a long time… and that’s not because I didn’t like him! It’s just due to our lives taking us in different directions. I had the pleasure of seeing him not too long ago and have been in contact thru FB. I look forward to seeing him in Berlin!
The strange and wonderful thing about all of the dancers is, no matter how much time passes, we always pick up right where we left off. We have this lovely brotherhood that has sprouted from this whole experience.
I look forward to seeing them all in Berlin!!

JT Leroy, for the uninitiated, was a super-hip trans teen novelist who CONQUERED the literary world in the early 2000s. Later, it came to light that JT was actually two women; writer Laura Albert who wrote under the pseudonym and Savannah Knoop who portrayed him for public appearances.
Last month, a documentary –Author: The J.T. Leroy Story – premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. It showed how Albert, a San Francisco punk rocker and phone sex operator, created created the character and managed to build such a celebrity following (Winona Ryder and Courtney Love claimed to be besties with the “elusive author” and director Asia Argento claimed to be having his baby). Author: the JT Leroy Story was just acquired by Amazon.
Now, according to Variety, Kristen Stewart and Helena Bonham Carter are in talks to join James Franco in JT LeRoy, a behind-the-scenes look at the story of the literary hoax.
Justin Kelly, who directed Franco in “I Am Michael,” will direct the film from his own script, based on the memoir and life rights of Savannah Kroop, who was identified in 2006 as the person who portrayed JT LeRoy — a woman who pretended to be a man who identifies as transgender, tricking the rich and famous in Hollywood, the fashion world and elite literary circles.
LBI Entertainment, Aquarius and Franco’s Rabbit Bandini Productions are producing, while Aquarius is providing equity financing. International rights are being sold at the Berlin Film Festival by Fortitude International.
Producers are planning on starting to shoot this summer.

Wow, Beyoncé’s Formation set was designed and filmed in just THREE weeks at Feynes Mansion in Pasadena (not in New Orleans!!). Read here about how amazing set designer Ethan Tobman transformed the space:

“…calling the video shoot fast would be an understatement. As late as mid January, Ethan Tobman, who would serve as production designer on the surprise video, wasn’t aware it was happening. But he was quickly brought up to speed.
“Literally three weeks ago, I’m sitting on my couch reading a book,” he says. “Then cut to today.”
Despite the themes of the video, nothing was shot in New Orleans. Everything was shot in Los Angeles and peppered with footage licensed from the documentary That B.E.A.T.. The concept and quick turnaround required Tobman and the rest of the crew to convert an historic home they found in Pasadena into a fitting Southern Gothic set for Beyoncé’s new song, part of a whirlwind shooting schedule that saw them put together arguably the biggest music video in recent memory in a mere week.
“Beyoncé is a pleasure to work with, and she really knows New Orleans well,” says Tobman. “She asked me, ‘are you going to be able to do this with the time that we have?'”

Susan Sarandon‘s adorable gender-fluid son, Miles Robbins, arrived with his mum to the Zoolanderlander 2 premiere in NYC, wearing a lovely sky-blue blazer covered in My Little Ponies. He paired it with a white blouson shirtdress, white nurse’s pantyhose, and gray loafers. You better werk, Miles Robbins.
His mother also looked fab in a gray-and-white floral jacket with giant skull lapels (McQueen?) and a necklace of … dead leaves? wood chips? … I can’t quite tell, but it looks great with her hair.
I’m sure Derek Zoolander was throwing a tantrum backstage, being upstaged at his own premiere.

All you need is a bag of Doritos, some fake flowers, and glue – and you are ready to make your inamorato SWOON!
Here’s what you do:
Step 1: Grab a bag of Doritos ketchup-flavored chips and a dozen plastic or silk roses.
Step 2: Open the bag and find 5 perfectly triangular chips.
Step 3. Next, find the curled chips. Save those (and eat what’s left in the bag).
Step 4. Take the petals off the fake roses and start by placing the curled chips in the center for a lovely rose-like effect.
Step 5. Grab some glue and stick the triangle ones around the curly centerpiece. Don’t let go ’till the flue dries!
Step 6. Place. Glue. Repeat x 12 until you have a beautiful bouquet of DIY Doritos ketchup roses!

Last night, Saint Laurent presented a fashion show at the Palladium here in Hollywood, and from the looks of things, it was completely star-studded. The most important star in attendance, however, was obviously the scruffy Justin Bieber who showed up basically looking like the Hollywood heartthrob he was destined to become—only a scruffy version, and I’m all about it. (If you ask me, scruffy Justin Bieber is the best Justin Bieber.) He and Lady Gaga were obviously really happy to see each other.

Yesterday, I spent two hours trying to post this INCREDIBLY CREEPY video of the throbbing, breathing, ectoplasmic blobs of terror that apparently live in the sewers beneath us. Every time I would post it, though, the video would be taken off-line by its original poster, which had me CONVINCED that it was a government conspiracy. The C.I.A. didn’t want me telling you the truth. Now, I’ve found a version that sticks. Watch it and decide for yourself. Do unknown life forms actually crawl around the tunnels beneath us? Is the human race doomed? Or is this REALLY just a snippet from my last colonoscopy? According to experts, the answer is: none of the above. “They are clumps of annelid worms, almost certainly tubificids (Naididae, probably genus Tubifex). Normally these occur in soil and sediment, especially at the bottom and edges of polluted streams.
