Grammy-nominated cutie Adam Lambert announced he is joining the cast of the upcoming Rocky Horror Picture Show remake as Eddie, the rock-and-roll-loving ex-deliveryboy-turned-dinner (SPOILER!) originally played by Meat Loaf. “I grew up watching Rocky Horror, but could never imagine that I would be part of this new vision,” Lambert said. “Rocky Horror always made me feel like it was OK to celebrate my weirdness. Hallelujah, bless my soul! I love that old time rock-n-roll!”
The two-hour Rocky Horror will air this fall starring Laverne Cox as the sweet transvestite Frank N. Furter, Victoria Justice and Ryan McCartan as sweethearts Janet and Brad, and yummy new discovery Staz Nair as Rocky. It will be executive produced by the legendary Lou Adler (who produced the original), with High School Musical‘s Kenny Ortega producing, directing, and choreographing it.
Earlier this year, Lou Adler told Rolling Stone he was on the fence about going forward with a remake with Fox. “I don’t want to do it if it’s not going to live up to the way people embraced the movie over the past 40 years,” he said. “We’re not casting an original script; in a way, we’re casting ‘Tim Curry.’ So if somebody is compared to Tim, they’re going to lose.” (via Rolling Stone)
