It’s no surprise that Kirsten Dunst (is going to finally win an Emmy) is the stand-out on the critically acclaimed Season 2 of FX’s highly anticipated anthology sophomore year of Fargo.
Because it’s:
As the nutty Peggy Blumquist, Dunst steals the show for me – not just for her acting chops (I’ve been a super-fan since Bring It On and Virgin Suicides) – but also for her incredible outfits.
First of all:
Already being a fashion darling (her style-game was majorly influenced by Sofia Coppola growing up and she’s Rodarte’s muse),
Dunst has been winning the red carpet and killin’ the papps recently…
Dunst in Proenza Schouler.
Dunst in Gucci.
Dunst in Jeremy Scott.
Dunst at Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Third:
Without giving TOO many spoilers away (I’m gonna give ALL the spoilers away so, like, stop reading if you’re gonna binge Season 2), pull out your high-waisted jeans and let’s take a look at all of Dunst’s looks for the season so far.
Episode 1:
In the episodic opening, we’re introduced to Peggy after the car accident. See what I did there. Kept it cryptic for all you non-watchers…We’re introduced to her in her now infamous and recognizable winter coat, raspberry beret (not sure if that’s a Prince nod) and red gloves (not sure if that’s for like, being caught “red-handed.”).
The second time we see her she’s in this cute homemaker look:
Add a little Sharon Needles and you got a bloody, deranged housewife realness:
Episode 2:
Peggy’s an existentialist, no doubt, and her hippy fashion foreshadows a woman who has big dreams. Big dreams of going to California.
Add a Farrah do and some vampire dimples and you can have this look too:
Episode 3:
In what I like to call her most ICONIC look is this two piece tweed jumper.
Kirsten noted that when she thinks about Peggy, it makes her laugh.
Peggy is a career woman. And she WANTS to stand out in her small town of Luverne, Minnesota and she does this through subtle accessories and details. Notably: the raspberry beret.

Episode 4:
EARMUFFS.
Episode 5:
Even Peggy’s robe is monochromatic to her beret and gloves. She’s almost ostentatiously wearing a scarlet “A” in all her drop dead red.
At this moment, her look is pretty uniform. And what’s wrong with that?! Some of our favorite cartoons rocked the same look (i.e. Marge Simpson, Doug Funnie), so she’s into floral blouses and high waisted denims. Can’t argue with that when it looks that good!
In this episode, she’s questioned by the cops and I like to think the sheerness of her top symbolizes her transparency when explaining her guilt-free lifestyle.
I can’t wait to see what’s to come in the following episodes as we enter the last four (costumes from Episode 7 haven’t been released on the inter-web yet!)
So grab a beret, your biggest shades, and your best vintage threads as we count down to our last days in Luverne, Minnesota. And fingers crossed Queen Kiki snatches all the wigs at Emmy season this year!
