What a night! What a season premiere! So much happened, my head was spinning. Quickly, quickly, let’s recap: Brienne was mean to Podrick (poor Podrick), Ser Loras got some, Mance Rayder is dead (SPOILER ALERT!)(whoops), Melisandre has decided to get into Jon Snow’s sullen panties, and Tyrion is off to meet the Mother of Dragons. The BIG takeaways, though, were the fashions, of course, the magnificent fashions. Lets check out the top looks of the night.
1. MY QUEEN! Cersei’s funeral attire with it’s scooped, high-backed collar and gorgeous statement necklace was completely on point. Very Ulyana Sergeenko, don’t you think?
2. Of course I’m a PERFECT FIEND for all the pointy-shouldered Unsullied outfits. So Gareth Pugh. I tried find a pic of White Rat, the Unsullied whose throat was slit last night, but to no avail. Let’s just gawp at Grey Worm instead. Grey Worm can get it – amiright ladies? – penis or no penis.
3. Cersei’s yummy cousin/fuckbuddy Lancel Lannister resurfaced last night, in his Ric Owens-y sand-colored caftan, acting crazy but looking all kinds of fiiiiiiine. You can’t really see how marvelous his new zealot-chic is in these GIFs, but trust, it’s a major improvement over the last time we saw him.
4. Daenerys always gets it right, of course. She knows those icy pale blues and white blond hair make her literally glow like the goddess she is.
5. Lovedlovedloved Sansa and Littlefinger’s fabulous matching black tweed and fur cloaks, looking like Victorian assassins. They’re just perfect for each other. My favorite unexpected couple since Jamie and Brienne.
6. Melisandre on fleek.
7. I’m mad for Wilding-wear. All the texture and layers with dangly bits and ragged hems, it’s too fabulous. So deconstructed. So ’90s Demeulemeester. The bone necklace/breast plate in the right hand of the second picture literally had me CHOKING on my Milanos last night. (Sorry, it’s a little blurry, it was all I could find). I even liked Mance Rayder’s piecemeal roadkill jacket. Yeah, I’d totally rock that.
8. Loras’ flowery blouse with its teeny tiny ruffle collar and oh-so-slightly puffy sleeves and gorgeous shirt strings – it’s not quite gay enough to get him lynched, but just gay enough to piss off everybody at a funeral dinner.
9. Lord Varys broke out of his sartorial comfort zone and wore a patterned robe that was (gasp!) KNEE-LENGTH! You go, ya nutty eunuch!
And a bonus pic: Margaery Tyrell in an ultra-drapey dusty cerulean gown in scenes from next week’s episode. well, it’s TOO, TOO DIVINE.
