Well, it was 4 degrees in Manhattan but that did NOT keep the crowds away from the Diamond Horseshoe, where appropriately “Queen of the Night” is performed. The Drag Race enthusiasts were dressed up and out in full-force to see the Season Seven Premiere. Lady Bunny was DJing up on high (Hi, Bun!) and the night was presided over by the always upbeat Shangela and Theodore Leaf from Logo’s “Secret Guide To Fabulous“. My pal Dimitri Aletras and I were seated with one of the sponsors of the new season, Daniel Koye of DKoye: The Product. It was hard to hear some of the dialogue but I think the winner of the first challenge got a HUGE supply of DKoye, which like everything and everyone last night, sparkled with rhinestones! Then we all watched the first episode which does NOT disappoint. (SPOILER ALERT: There’s naked nudity all over the place! Who nude?) Then all the girls performed for us and gave it their all. It is NYC after all! I cannot give you a review of every single one (I lost my notes, along with my scarf, so I hope I didn’t mix up any of the girl’s names?) but there were plenty of crowd favorites like hometown girl, Pearl and the stage splits, kicks and drops of Kennedy Davenport, who did an encore at the insistance of Shangela. But they were ALL great. Sasha Belle, Violet Chachki,, Mrs. Kasha Davis, Tempest DuJour, Miss Fame, Jaidynn Diore Fierce, Kandy Ho’, Katya, Jasmine Masters, Trixie Mattel, Max and Ginger Minj. SO much fun and the PERFECT place because the entire theater is a giant runway. I need to watch the episode again because the queens were screaming the whole time, and of course we don’t know who is lip synching for their lives just yet… but you will know when RuPaul’s Drag Race premieres on LogoTV in just 6 days, on Monday March 2!
