Pharell’s new fragrance is unisex. The bottle design is by artist KAWS
Pharrell latest release in his low-key quest for global domination is GIRL, a fragrance created with Comme des Garçons. According to The Cut;
“The top notes of GIRL are bold and unapologetic. The peppery scent is like a trip in the woods, with spicy fumes of white pepper and cedar. This strong scent hovers, like a mushroom cloud, for the better part of an hour. It smells rustic, in a bare-bones kind of way. On the dry-down, the fragrance releases from its peppery clutches and blooms into a light, more woody scent. It is an earthy, creamy, softer wood aroma, of sorts. Perhaps a bit too woody. Although violet and iris are sandwiched in the fragrance’s middles notes, their sweetness was elusive.”
OK. That’s some flowery language but I get it, I think. And the bottle is pure Pop. Designed by Pharrell’s Brooklyn artist buddy, KAWS, it looks like it could sit on any 20-something’s dresser. Getting both sexes to wear a scent –no matter WHAT it smells like– is a bit of stretch to me. But most fragrances –whether worn by men or women, boys or girls– is still purchased by women, so, that part is kind of a given. Why? Just KAWS.
